Moon Dog is a rad craft brewery in the backstreets of inner Melbourne’s Abbotsford. Started in 2010 by two brothers and their mate, with a love of craft beer and a desire to make beers they couldn’t get anywhere else, they put together the original brewery from re-purposed dairy equipment. They’ve grown a heap since then, adding a ballroom oasis function space and a freakin’ big fancy production brewery next door. The original brewery space is now their tropical-indoor-outdoor-brewery-bar-paradise.

The brewery bar is set in front of the still operating original brewery, decked out with comfy couches, palm trees, a retractable roof and an eclectic array of ever growing paraphernalia on the walls. There’s a rotating lineup of 10 beers on tap, ranging from old favourites Old Mate Pale Ale or Love Tap Lager to more unique one off single kegs like Mie Goreng Belgian Brown Ale or Vanilla Citrus Carrot Ale. There’s also a not-beer list of wine, cider and the occasional cocktail. The pizza van out front serves up damn tasty pizzas and you can grab free popcorn from the bar!

Drop by on a Wednesday evening for a game of bingo with prizes, or if you want a behind the scenes look at the brewery – free tours run on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
