 OPPEN is a Scandinavian inspired café/restaurant in Windsor, located just off the hustle and bustle of Chapel Street. Their space is clean, minimalist and modern and designed to evoke “Hygge”; cosy, convivial and inspiring a feeling of well-being. The vibe is relaxed and comfortable and the service is friendly and professional.

Head Chef Zume Pham, formerly of Circa, Seven Seeds and Auction House, was inspired by a trip to Denmark and Sweden to bring this Scandinavian style of dining home to Melbourne.

They specialise in traditional Danish open sandwiches, or smørrebrød; thickly buttered house-made rye bread served with a variety of delicious toppings. These include House-Cured Salmon with Pickled Daikon and Rillette, Pan-Roast Chicken with Smoked Almond and Parsley Emulsion and Rare Roast Beef with Chipotle Béarnaise and Pickles.

In addition, they serve an all-day brunch menu with a Scandi twist, as well as weekly specials. Chef Zumes’ interpretation of Scandinavian fare is catered to an Australian audience and as such is light, healthy and features plenty of tasty vegan and gluten-free options.

As well as great food Öppen serves specialty coffee from Disciple Coffee Roasters and is fully licensed.
